A powder system for the safe and rapid sterilisation of medical devices. The active agents, are formed by dissolving the powder in water giving an aqueous solution. PeraSafe is proven effective against bacteria (including mycobacteria), viruses, spores and fungi, is non-damaging to sensitive instruments and is compatible with automated endoscope reprocessors.
PeraSafe’s unique formulation confers the benefit of user compatibility being virtually odour-free and non-sensitising whilst retaining the effectiveness of peracetic acid. A sophisticated corrosion-inhibition system allied to a near neutral pH allows sterilisation of stainless steel rigid endoscopes and other equipment through brief immersion in PeraSafe solution. PeraSafe powder saves storage space and transportation costs.A rapid, broad spectrum sterilant, instrument and equipment compatible, PeraSafe is cost-effective and safe for users, patients and the environment.

PeraSafe is a peroxygen system generating peracetyl ions in equilibrium at pH 8.0 equivalent to peracetic acid at 0.26% PeraSafe solution also contains hydrogen peroxide and acetic acid and decomposes to carbon dioxide and water.

Pale blue/white powder supplied in 100 x 16.2gm, 24 x 81gm, 12 x 162gm and 6 x 810gm packs making 100 x 1, 24 x 5, 12 x 10 and 6 x 50 litres of working solution respectively.

Storage and shelf-life
Store only in cool, humidity controlled conditions

Mode of action
By oxidation of proteins by hydrogen peroxide and
peracetic acid.

PeraSafe has independently proven efficacy against viruses (including HIV and Hepatitis B & C), Bacteria (Ps. aeruginosa), Mycobacteria (MIA, TB) Fungi (Candida albicans) and Spores (B. subtilis).
PeraSafe is suitable for use in Automated Endoscope Reprocessors or immersion baths. Only 10 minutes contact time is needed for sterilisation.

PeraSafe has been independently evaluated by HIRL in the UK. HIRL found a reduction in colony forming units of > 6 log10 for Bacillus subtilis var niger spores in less than 10 minutes (surface test) and a reduction of >5 log10 (5-8 log10) c.f.u. for Mycobacterium tuberculosis in a dirty carrier test with a contact time of 10 minutes.

PeraSafe has exceptional user safety as an aqueous-based fully degradeable formulation. Maximum Exposure Limits or Occupational Exposure Standards do not apply to PeraSafe solution. No special ventilation systems or monitoring of staff is necessary saving costs and improving working conditions.


PeraSafe is compatible with a wide range of medical devices and reprocessing equipment such as rigid and flexible endoscopes, ultrasound probes and automatic washer/disinfectors.

Testing has been carried out both by Antec and the manufacturers.

PeraSafe can be used to decontaminate all types of non-invasive, semi-critical medical devices, either through use in an automated washer/disinfector or immersion troughs. PeraSafe may also be used as a surface disinfectant for decontamination of mycobacteria and clostridium difficile in high risk areas such as infectous disease isolation wards and laboratories.

PeraSafe complements Antec Virkon high level disinfectant for use on medical and laboratory surfaces, Virkon is available in 100 x 5gm, 100 x 10gm, 50 x 50gm, 100 x 10gm and 100 x 5gm sachets for single use, 6 x 500gm shaker packs and a 5 kilo container for general use.
